woohoo!
the girls beat southern 5-0 in the championship game. how awesome is that? they still got the rest of the year for practicing for Far East ... hope they kick ass there!
ryan came by. he made himself comfy on our couch while i got ready. joy couldnt get her plans together coz i guess her friends couldnt get their plans together. it was irritating coz id been reminding her all week to figure out what she was gonna do so could arrange her rides and shit. last minute shit came together - damn i hate when that happens ... so we left to pick up Kat and JP and me and ryan dropped the three of them off in Tumon and headed on to the Gate Theater to skip the entire import night thing and check out the Battle of the Bands competition.
jenna and ives told me theyd be there early to wait for me coz i was bringing the posters. so we rushed to Tiyan and me and ryan ended up being the first of the groupies to get there. the place was filling up so me and ryan took some seats and the show started. i thought it was gonna be some hardcore concert-type show (go figure, im not a mosh-band-concert-goer type of perso?) ... but it was an all-island competition with vocal solo and vocal group categories in elementary, middle, and high school divisions and on big category for bands. it turned out alright though. baskwill and kev showed up and decided to stand in the back the whole time. we had great seats and i got most of the first half of the show at a pretty good distance on tape.
the kids did their thing first. it was really nice coz they were really good! man im so jealous! these kids could sing! then when they moved on into the high school level, things started to get really good. they switched from band performance to singing performance back to band ... it flowed really well. Malafunkshun & Julius were the hosts: BiBA THE CHiLDREN!
most of the bands were from GW, JFK, and FD so there was a lot of support from their schools who came out. Drink Till She's Pretty (Chris, James, Zach, & Jackie) were the only ones from GHS. the rest of the groupies came during towards the end of the first half (with awesome Drink Till She's Pretty shirts) and we all met up at intermission. we made the signs i brought [MARRY ME CHRiS & GO DRiNK TiLL SHE'S PRETTY] ...
the competition was good. there was this group made up of this chick who played guitar and this dude on the drums and there were this guy and girl up there with them. at first i thought they were gonna sing but the band played rock covers of britney spears songs and the dude and girl started pop-locking and shit ... it was really cool. they started harlem shaking too ... man, that was really really cool! I liked this one group who did a Starting Line song ... i forget which ... but Drink did SUBLiME'S i SAW RED ... it was awesome.
at the end, the band winner was announce last. 3rd was this one group who did blink covers ... i didnt think they were the best but they did a good job ... maybe coz theyre songs were catchy? ... oh but doing that whole NO SCRUBS thing was cool. 2nd was that pop-locking britney spears group. after they'd chosen them, everyone was kinda uhm ... nervous? ... coz there were some really really good bands left to choose from. as soon as they said "and 1st place goes to DRiNK..." all 20 of us GHS-ers got up and started screaming. that was so fun! we hung out at the theater with the band afterwards. it was only 9 when the show ended. a chillnight with the crew was outta the possibilities though coz ivey had to drop some people off.
the only thing i didnt like about the show was that i ran out of tape. i ran out of tap in the middle of Drink's performance. dammit. and the better performances just happened to be after i had run out.
so i didnt want to take any chances trying to find parking down in tumon so me and ryan just hung out at Tinian.
got home at 1210 and me and joy talked about our nights.
from what ive heard, import night was all that great. haha ... i had a great time skipping it ... joy said that people were acting "stranger than usual" and she was just irritated. she said out of the whole time, she only had fun at the end - when she wasnt with the original group she had started with. im so glad i didnt go.
we came up with our "import poser" term. yeah a lot of people at school are. i think thats all everyone was talking about all week ... fucking import night ... coz of all the 'tyte carz' that are gonna be there and all the import models. blah. half those people dont know shit about cars. or maybe they do. i dont. if i had went, i really wouldnt have known what i was looking at. and people acting "stranger than usual" woulda definitily got on my nerves. and to top it off, the crowds walking around in different directions woulda made me sick. ok. im not as cool as everyone else. haha. whatever. i had fun elsewhere.
in the end, i told joy she prolly woulda had more fun watching the bands. its more her thing than it is mine. im not punk at all. i dont even like that stereotype. but i went for my friends. and our group had fun. i had fun. the bands were awesome. the night wasnt fake.
my revelations of the day: figure out what you like. choose the one thats more appealing to yourself. dont watse time dealing with people who just dont know. dont base things on what everyone else says is cool. youll be way more happier. i promise you.
ok. everyone be mad at me for my opinions now.

miss you chick!
